Presbyterian Children's Emergency Awarded "Best New Unit"

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- ADVANCE for Nurses newsmagazine announced that Presbyterian Hospitals' Childrens Emergency Department has won the Best New Unit award, one of five awards in the publications annual Best Nursing Team program.
In celebration of National Nurses Week, May 6-12, ADVANCE presents these awards in the spirit of teamwork, initiative and adaptability.
"Nurses work hard for their patients, their facility and their coworkers. By celebrating the nursing teams who read our magazines, we aim to do our part in honoring the everyday heroes who keep our nation healthy and safe," said Linda Jones, editorial director of ADVANCE for Nurses. Dozens of nursing teams from across the Southeastern States submitted entry forms. A panel of two judges evaluated the entries by awarding scores in each of the following categories: initiative, adaptability, teamwork, recruitment/retention and knowledge.
The nurses on the Presbyterian Children's Emergency Department team will be featured in the May 7, 2007 issue. The team will be presented with a framed certificate commemorating their award.
Each year, the ADVANCE for Nurses Best Nursing Team contest generates many entries from units and facilities all over the regions served by the magazine. ADVANCE for Nurses reaches RNs in 10 regional areas: New England; Greater New York/New Jersey Metro Area; Areas of Pennsylvania/New Jersey/Delaware; Areas of Maryland/Washington DC/Virginia; Metro Areas of the Carolinas and Georgia, Florida; Chicago Tri-State Area; the Metro Areas of Texas and Louisiana and southern and northern California including Reno, NV.
